In 2009 the Worship Committee worked toward its ongoing mission: to provide support for the Pastors and the Music Director as they design worship experiences that teach, comfort, uplift, challenge, and empower worshippers to live as God’s ambassadors; to help in the planning of and providing for a variety of worship experiences which are meaningful, spiritually uplifting, and interesting for diverse worshippers.  Some of the specific ways in which we did this in 2009 include:

Nuts and Bolts of Worship Services
Scheduled ushers, liturgists, and communion preparers/servers for worship services throughout the year.
Provided certain worship resources such as communion wine, grape juice, and cups, candles, bulletins, and worship-planning resources.
Provided supplies for recording worship services for distribution to shut-ins.
Planned for each church season and dressing the sanctuary, and what support we could give to the Pastors and Music Director.

Music Ministry
Provided leadership and planning for music for worship services (Adult choir and Music Director: Merry Spangler; Children’s music: Connie Von Der Heide; Instrumental groups: Mark Sieger; Bell choir: Betsy Robbins).
Purchased music for the choir, children, instrumental groups, and bell choir.
Provided budget for tuning sanctuary and rehearsal pianos.
Provided budget for substitute pianists as needed.

Dressing the Sanctuary
Throughout the liturgical year, we worked to create a worship environment that enhanced the worship experience. Using a variety of materials and in consultation with the pastors, we tried to create visual representations of scripture or enhancements to worship and seasonal themes for Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Pentecost, Ordinary Time as well as Rally Day.  

New Ideas
We were pleased to welcome new participants with fresh ideas to the Worship Committee this year and invite any interested members to join us.
