The Building and Grounds Committee has been having a quiet year in 2009. The recent additions and upgrades to the building have provided a lesser need for repairs. More minor repairs have been taken care of by church members for the most part. The lawn seems to be doing OK with the higher mowing approach. The Memorial Garden area didn’t receive much attention this year. A sub committee of the Trustees is working on a memorial garden policy for planting or gifting issues in this area. The spring cleanup dates were rained out. A minor repair list will be created to address what volunteers can take care of or what needs to be hired out to keep our building in good shape and safe. Accomplishments for 2009 The parking lot was crack filled, sealed and restriped. The carpets were cleaned in the fellowship area. Some cleaning of the storage building was done. A new water heater was installed in December. Some sprinkler heads were replaced with dry type heads. A new mail box was installed. Goals for 2010 A new mail box post is needed. Continue to clean out the storage building. Repair the basketball hoop. Create a compost area for yard waste. Chip various brush piles all around the property. Refurbish the front sign and surrounding area. Find environmentally safe weed control and fertilizer for the lawn. Continued work on the Memorial Garden area.
