“MedDrop”By Mary Ircink, parish nurseEvery household has unused prescription or over the counter medications in the cupboard or medicine chest. The dates of use on the bottles may have expired or the medicine is not being used because of other reasons. It is not safe to keep or reuse other people’s medicine and children could accidentally get into cabinets and swallow the medications that look like candy or juice. In the past, many of us may have flushed the extra medicine down the drain or thrown it into the garbage. Either way it is an unsafe way to dispose of medicine. Animals, other people and the environment could be affected. Take the time to keep not only your home safe but God’s creation safe as well by disposing extra medication at a MedDrop. MedDrop events are free, drive-through services available to all people. Three events will be coming in October on the 22nd.
