Be Aware - Be Informed - Find Help
Welcome to the Parent Addiction Network of Dane County, Wisconsin.
Here's a web site is for parents, families, and friends who have a loved one affected by drug addiction. The drug epidemic that is sweeping our communities and the nation knows no boundaries. It affects all ages, socio-economic groups, races and ethnicities, and genders.
While Madison and Dane County are rich in resources and services, it is often difficult to know who to turn to, what to ask, and how to navigate the issues and systems associated with drug use disorders. We hope this site will help you find answers to the many questions that surround addiction, treatment, insurance, legal issues, recovery, and getting support for your loved one and yourself. You are not alone!!
Healthy Dane
A new website with a wide variety of easy-to-access information is a product of Healthy Dane collaborative (Meriter, St. Mary’s, Stoughton, UW Hospital and Clinics and Public Health of Madison and Dane County). The extraordinary collaboration between Dane County’s four not for-profit hospitals and Public Health worked over two years to provide the information which is now also available to the public.
The web site provides a wide range of up-to-date health and population data to the community. The information will be helpful for anyone interested in understanding and working to improve the health of our Dane County population.
Fear of falling?
Reduce your falls risk by registering for“Stepping On” an evidenced based 7-week, 2 hour class for older adults. This effective series builds confidence and reduces falls. The series cost is $35. Surveys from recent Dane County classes show a 50% reduction in falls for those who complete the series. You can find information on when and where classes will be held here.
Free child car seat inspections by appointment
According to Madison area Dean Foundation Car Seat Inspections, 4 out of 5 car seats are used incorrectly. Be sure yours isn’t one of them!
On the first Thursday morning of every month there are trained volunteers available to check your family’s car seat placement, at the Fitchburg Fire Department on Lacy Road. Each scheduled check takes 20-30 minutes to complete and that’s to check 1-2 car seats per vehicle. You will need to call 890-8999 to schedule an appointment ahead of time.
There are also other car seat inspections in the Madison area and you can call either Dean Foundation 827-2327 or UW- Madison Police 262-2957 to find out when and where they occur. Take time to be safe!
