Saturday, Jan. 20, 5 pm: A year after the Women’s March in Washington D.C., and around the world, as immigration policies are debated, Memorial UCC in Fitchburg will be holding a candle light vigil Saturday evening to offer an opportunity for the community to gather for quiet reflection and contemplation.
“When the alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God” (Leviticus 19:33-34).
The Wisconsin Conference UCC, of which Memorial UCC is a part, is an Immigrant Welcoming Conference as our congregations “work to stay informed about and provide support for efforts in our local congregations to support refugees and immigrants, including those who are seeking asylum in the United States of America” (http://www.wcucc.org/resource-center/justice-ministries/immigration-working-group/).
