Friday, December 20, 7 pm. Blessed are… We will be using the Beatitudes (Matt. 5:1-12) for a prayerful mediation on the long, dark places in our lives. The darkness provides an opportunity for something new to be born. Christine Valters Painter writes, “Sometimes we need to welcome our ‘small selves’—the poor, meek, humble parts of ourselves… The Beatitudes are not about our big radiant self, but about the tender, quiet self, or the self who has been shut out for some reason.”[1] Come. Let go. Be still.
